Microsoft Clarity · Measure

Watch the session replays that match your failing experiment variants. Session replay and heatmaps, paired with your quantitative data.

Microsoft Clarity gives you free session replay and heatmaps. Apex joins Clarity sessions to the identity graph so you can open the replays tied to a struggling variant, a churned account, or a high-intent lead, all in one click from the relevant card.

What teams use it for

The questions people actually ask.

  • How do I watch the session replays of users who hit my losing experiment variant?

Every experiment result in Apex has a 'watch sessions' link that filters Microsoft Clarity to the exact users who saw that variant during the test window. Open a handful of replays and you usually spot the friction the numbers alone can't describe, a confusing form field, a button that looks clickable but isn't, a layout that breaks below 380px.

  • Can I see session replays for a specific HubSpot contact or churning customer?

Yes. Apex joins every Clarity session to the Apex Profile, so from a HubSpot contact card or an Apex account-health view, you can open all of that user's Clarity sessions in chronological order. A churning customer's last 10 sessions usually tell a clear story.

  • Does Clarity's rage-click and dead-click data feed Apex's intelligence models?

Yes. Friction signals (rage clicks, excessive scroll, dead clicks) become model features in the Apex Intelligence layer. An account racking up rage clicks on billing pages moves toward the 'at risk' segment automatically; a high-intent visitor hitting a dead click on the primary CTA surfaces as a product bug.

What flows in

What Apex receives from Microsoft Clarity.

From Microsoft Clarity

  • Session metadata including duration, pages viewed, and device
  • Rage clicks, dead clicks, and excessive-scroll signals
  • Heatmap aggregate data for key pages
  • Session replay URLs scoped to Apex identity where available

What it powers

Where this data shows up.

  • Experiments

Open the Clarity replays tied to a losing variant to see exactly what friction it introduced.

  • Intelligence

Behavioral friction signals from Clarity feed into activation and engagement models alongside event data.

FAQ

Microsoft Clarity and Apex, answered.

  • How much does the Microsoft Clarity integration cost?

Microsoft Clarity itself is free forever with unlimited session replays, so the only cost is whatever you're paying for your Apex plan. The Apex side of the integration is included on every tier.

  • Does Apex host the session replays?

No. Session replays stay hosted in Clarity with Microsoft's infrastructure. Apex imports session metadata (duration, pages, rage clicks, etc.) and the replay URL, then deep-links into Clarity when you want to watch the actual recording. Your replay data storage terms are whatever Clarity offers.

  • How is Clarity + Apex different from FullStory or Hotjar?

FullStory and Hotjar are commercial session-replay tools that cost per seat. Clarity is free from Microsoft and is functionally comparable for most teams. Apex makes Clarity more valuable by connecting its session data to your experiment, attribution, and account-scoring data, you end up with the same loop FullStory charges for, at Clarity's price.

  • Can I watch replays for anonymous users or only identified ones?

Both. Clarity captures sessions for anonymous visitors by default, and Apex joins them to the Apex Profile the moment the visitor identifies (email, login, purchase). Anonymous history rolls into the user's profile automatically, so a session recorded before they signed up still shows up on their user card.

  • Does it work with Microsoft Clarity's heatmaps?

Yes. Heatmap data is imported at the page level and shown in Apex alongside experiment results. If variant B has 40% higher scroll depth than variant A on a landing page, the heatmap makes it obvious why without switching tools.

  • What data from Clarity does Apex import?

Session metadata (duration, pages viewed, device, referrer), friction signals (rage clicks, dead clicks, excessive scroll), and heatmap aggregates for key pages. The full replay itself stays in Clarity and is opened via deep link.
